Description

Batt-Latch Automatic Gate Release Timer PA56

The Batt-Latch PA56 is a portable solar-powered automatic gate release timer designed to give farmers more control over grazing, feed access and stock movement. Pre-programmed by the farmer, it can be used on virtually any gate system and is especially well suited to dairy farms where timing, labour efficiency and grass utilisation all matter.

Instead of having to be physically present to let cattle into a fresh paddock, feed pad or break-feeding area, the Batt-Latch releases a temporary gate automatically at the exact time you set. That means cows can move at the right time of day or night, even when you are busy elsewhere on the farm or still in bed before an early milking. For many farmers, it is a simple but highly effective way to improve daily workflow and get more from a grazing system.

The PA56 model is designed for flexibility and ease of use. It features a keypad and full message LCD display so you can clearly see what has been programmed. The timer allows you to set up and store four release events at a time and programme one-off releases up to two weeks in advance. It can also be set to repeat morning and evening releases every day of the week, making it ideal for regular grazing routines.

In practice, the Batt-Latch replaces the function of a normal gate in a paddock setup. The timer is attached to one post using the adjustable webbing strap, and the supplied spring gate or bungy cord is hooked to the latch cam, stretched across and clipped to the other post or fence line. Once the programmed release time arrives, the latch opens automatically and gives stock access to the next area.

One of the biggest advantages of the Batt-Latch is that it is powered by an integrated solar panel, which removes the need for regular charging and is designed to work year-round with minimal power consumption and low sunlight. For Irish farming conditions, that is a major benefit. The unit is also built with a tough all-weather waterproof case, helping it withstand outdoor use in changing weather conditions across the season.

This automatic gate release timer is particularly useful for dairy farmers using feed pads, break-feeding supplements before or after milking, or managing cows on longer grazing rotations. It suits medium to large farms, herds with long raceways to the dairy, and farms operating multiple groups of stock. Some farmers use one or two units per herd to hold cows back after milking and then release them at the right moment, helping ensure better access to fresh grass and reducing unnecessary bunching or stress.

The Batt-Latch PA56 is supplied as a full kit for instant use, including the long spring gate kit, post strap and energizer clip lead. It also includes a comprehensive manual with helpful hints and tips, along with a 12-month warranty and rapid service guarantee. For farmers looking to save time, improve grazing management and reduce routine gate work, it is a practical and proven tool.
