Brace Plate – Galvanised Steel Fixing for Strut Poles
This brace plate is used to attach strut poles (braces) to straining posts within a fence end post assembly, making the connection quick, easy and safe. It replaces the traditional method of cutting a notch into the straining post and prop by chainsaw, a slow, imprecise process that weakens the timber and introduces a point where rot and splitting can start.
By screwing/nailing the brace plate directly onto the straining post and prop, you get a stronger, more consistent connection every time, without cutting into either timber. This keeps both posts at full strength, speeds up assembly on site, and removes a step that is easy to get wrong when notching by hand.
Why use a brace plate instead of notching
- Eliminates the dangerous process of notching posts by chainsaw
- Enables the user to build stronger, more reliable struts
- Keeps the straining post and prop at full timber strength
- Speeds up end post assembly on site
- Consistent, repeatable fixing across every assembly
Where it's used
The brace plate is fitted at the base of the diagonal strut (prop) in an end post assembly or double end post assembly – the points where a fence line starts, finishes or changes direction. These are the highest-load points on any wire fence line, so a secure, correctly fitted brace connection is essential to keep the whole run properly tensioned.
