Description

Durashield Wire Strainer Black | Insulated Wire Strainer

The Durashield Wire Strainer Black is a high-performance wire strainer designed for permanent electric fencing where reliable insulation and strong line tension both matter. Supplied pre-fitted to Cliplock permanent wire strainers, this insulated wire strainer is built to give better electrical retention, especially in wet conditions where ordinary strainers can lose performance.

For Irish farmers, contractors and landowners, wet weather is one of the biggest challenges in electric fencing. Rain, damp timber posts, and constant moisture around corner and end assemblies can increase conductivity and allow valuable power to leak away through the post. That leads to reduced fence performance, lower shock levels and a system that is not working as effectively as it should.

This is where the Durashield insulated wire strainer stands out. Its larger insulator is designed to reduce conductivity through the post and minimise shock loss at critical points on the fence line. In real Irish fencing conditions, where corner posts are regularly exposed to heavy rain, wet timber and damp ground, that extra insulation can make a meaningful difference to fence efficiency and stock control.

Unlike a standard wire strainer, the Durashield has been developed specifically to improve electrical retention in wet conditions. Strainrite describes it as offering ultimate or superior electrical retention in wet weather and designed to outperform at a cost-effective price. That makes it a very strong choice for permanent electric fencing systems in Ireland, where wet conditions are not the exception but the norm.

Why choose a Durashield wire strainer?

When building or upgrading an electric fence, the strainer assembly is one of the most important points in the line. It controls wire tension, but in an electric fence it also affects insulation. If the strainer area is not insulated well enough, some of the fence's energy can track into the post, especially during wet weather.

The Durashield wire strainer is designed to solve that issue by combining a permanent wire strainer with an advanced insulator system. The result is a practical insulated wire strainer that helps maintain stronger fence performance while still being simple to install and tension as part of a standard permanent fencing setup.

Built for wet Irish conditions

In Ireland, electric fence systems often have to cope with long periods of rain, heavy dew, wet hedges and timber posts that stay damp for much of the year. These conditions can place extra strain on insulation points around corners, ends and strainers. A larger insulator helps by increasing separation between the live wire and the post, reducing the risk of conductivity and helping retain more power in the fence line.

That means the Durashield is not just another wire strainer. It is a more suitable choice for customers who want to reduce power leakage in wet weather and get more reliable performance from their electric fence system.

Frequently asked questions

What makes this wire strainer different from a standard wire strainer?
The main difference is the larger insulator, which helps reduce conductivity and shock loss through the post, especially in wet weather.

Why is this useful in Ireland?
Irish fencing often has to deal with rain, wet timber posts and damp ground conditions. Better insulation at the strainer helps retain more power in the fence line.

Is this a permanent fence strainer?
Yes, it is designed for permanent electric fencing and comes pre-fitted to Cliplock permanent wire strainers.
